THE BCM BOARD APPOINTS ITS MANAGING DIRECTOR AND SPECIAL ADVISOR
 
ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia – The Business Council of Mongolia (BCM) held its Board of Directors Meeting on 25 February 2022 and approved following appointments:
  • Bayarsaikhan Javkhlan as the Managing Director of the BCM
  • Ayumi Konishi as the Special Advisor to the Board of Directors
Ms. Javkhlan has been working as the Director (Board Affairs, Working Groups, Memberships) of the BCM since December 2018. She is a business executive with over 10 years of extensive international working experience throughout her career in Mongolia, USA, Singapore, and Switzerland. Previous working experiences include the Business Executive at SingTel Telecommunications in Singapore, World Bank Mongolia, UNECE in Geneva, SouthGobi Resources in Mongolia, and State Great Hural (Parliament) of Mongolia. Ms. Javkhlan holds a Master’s degree in International Management from University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland (FHNW) in Basel, Switzerland and Bachelor’s degree in International Business Administration from Mongolia International University (MIU).

 
 
Mr. Konishi is a development finance executive with 4 decades of experience in emerging markets of Asia Pacific and Africa. He started his career with the United Nations in Baghdad, Iraq (Economic Commission for Western Asia), New York (Secretariat), and Addis Ababa, Ethiopia (Economic Commission for Africa). In 1988, he joined the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila and served as Director General of several key departments (including the Mongolia and China department) and as Special Senior Advisor to the President of the ADB. He has been supporting Mongolia since its early years of ADB membership (since 1991). Mr. Konishi graduated from Waseda University (Japan) and Oregon State University (US) and has a postgraduate degree from New York University in Economics.
 
In addition, the Board of Directors have approved the operational plan and budget for the year 2022 and Working Groups (WG) structure as follows:
  • Industrialization, Infrastructure and Connectivity Working Group – Ts. Tumentsogt (Chair), B.Byambasaikhan (Vice Chair)
  • Mining and Energy Working Group – J.Lyons (Chair), R.Sawyer (Vice Chair), N.Young (Vice Chair)
  • Climate change & Sustainable Finance Working Group – E.Orchlon (Chair), M.Boldoo (Vice Chair), R.Koppa (Vice Chair)
  • Regulatory and Tax Working Group – B.Battushig (Chair), Kh.Amarjargal (Vice Chair)
  • Economic Freedom and Competitiveness Working Group – D.Jargalsaikhan (Chair), D.Hulan (Vice Chair), A.Torres (Vice Chair)
  • Digital Transformation Working Group – S.Enkh-Amgalan (Chair), Ts.Munkhtuvshin (Vice Chair)
 
The BCM also appointed Bayasgalan Naranzul as the Director (Policy). She has more than fifteen years of progressive experience in public institutions, the private sector, and CSOs in the areas of legislative and decision making, public policy analysis, trade and economic affairs, foreign policy, sustainable and green development. Ms. Naranzul holds an MA in Diplomacy, Law, and Business from the Jindal Global University in India (2017), an MA in Asia Pacific Policy Studies from the University of British Columbia in Canada (2010), and an MS and BA in Structural Engineering from the Mongolian University of Science and Technology (2000).


The BCM Board thanks Mr. Ulziiburen Unenburen for his service as the Managing Director of BCM since May 2020. Mr. Unenburen is pursuing full time engagement in his business ventures.
