President Ts. Elbegdorj awarded South Gobi Resources COO its Order of the Polar Star Award. Curt Church received the award in recognition for its contributions to the development of Mongolia's mining sector and cooperative efforts between Mongolia and Canada.

This award is the highest award bestowed on foreign nationals by Mongolia and can only be issued by decree of the President. It has been generally awarded to outstanding Mongolian nationals since 1936.
