National Green Lab Launched as a National Platform to Connect Mongolian Green Projects with Global Investment Opportunities through COP17

The launch event of the National Green Lab platform was held at the Government Palace on 11 February 2026, as part of Mongolia’s preparations to host the Seventeenth Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).

Initiated by the Office of the President of Mongolia and developed in partnership with the Business Council of Mongolia (BCM) and the Mongolian Nature’s Legacy Foundation (MNLF), the National Green Lab was officially introduced as a national platform to advance nature-based solutions and mobilize sustainable green finance. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change, the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Light Industry, and private sector and institutional partners including The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Capital Markets Mongolia, DBM Asset Management, DBM Leasing, NovaTerra, PMI Mongolia Chapter, and Erxes.

As a founding organization, the Business Council of Mongolia (BCM) plays a central role in mobilizing private sector engagement, strengthening investor participation, and facilitating connections between green project developers, businesses, and financing institutions. The platform is designed to bridge environmental priorities with commercially viable investment opportunities.

The National Green Lab platform is designed to identify, select, and support high-impact, scalable green projects capable of delivering measurable environmental benefits. Selected projects will receive targeted technical and financial advisory support during a two-month acceleration period to help align with international financing and investment standards. The platform further aims to facilitate connections between investment-ready projects and both domestic and international investors.

Selected initiatives are expected to be showcased to global stakeholders and potential investors during COP17.

The National Green Lab serves as a multi-stakeholder collaboration platform bringing together government institutions, private sector participants, international organizations, and research bodies. The initial focus areas include land degradation reduction, pastureland ecosystem restoration, sustainable pasture management, climate adaptation, and nature-based solutions — priorities aligned with Mongolia’s national policy agenda and COP17 themes.

Representatives from government institutions, development partners, and the private sector participated in the launch event and expressed support for collaborative engagement through the platform.

Organizations and project developers are invited to submit innovative, high-impact, and scalable green project proposals.
